Nothing Can Steal Our Joy

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, I hope that you all had a blessed celebration of Christmas and that 2013 will be filled with many blessings for you and your families. Last night after I returned from the weekly Prayer Meeting, I sat down to try and catch up on the news. The television was tuned into King 5 and the show Law & Order was on. A man dressed in a Roman Collar sat upon a table and was being interrogated by a police officer. Sure enough, it was a Roman Catholic priest and the police officer immediately began questioning the seal of confession and saying all kinds of negative things about it. When the show revealed that one of the priests fathered a child within his parish, I located the remote control and turned it off. I don't know about you, but I am getting pretty sick and tired of the anti-Catholic bias so present in the media today. I stopped taking the Seattle Times several years ago because of it's blatant bias against Catholics. God works qui...

Homily Posted

I have posted the homily from this past weekend. You can listen to it by clicking here.

Website Technical Problems

I tried to install a program on my website which would allow me to publish changes from any computer rather than having access to it from only one computer with the software on it. Something went wrong and my website was gone for a few days. I resolved the situation yesterday with the technical support of the hosting company where I have my website.  Everything should be back to normal and I have resumed the Daily Thoughts. I missed a few days with all of the problems.  I enjoyed a brief visit home to celebrate Christmas with my family. I wish the time was a little longer, but it was still a huge blessing to be able to drive over the pass and have a couple of days at home.  Have a blessed day!

Safe Passage

I made it to my parent's home on two hours of sleep. I had to get out of the car a couple of times and I did buy one of those 5 Hour Energy drinks. My brother and his family will join us this evening for dinner and presents. I will probably try and sleep a little more. I have posted the homily from the midnight Mass. It's in the Sunday homily section of my website, or at this link.  Have a blessed Christmas!

Jesus of Nazareth - The Infancy Narratives

Image
I am getting ready to leave for the Sacred Heart Radio station to do a taping of Sound Insight. Today is our monthly Book Club and our book is Jesus of Nazareth — The Infancy Narratives   by Pope Benedict XVI. This is the last of his three books on the life of Jesus Christ. It is the shortest and probably easiest to read book in the series. I really enjoyed it and was particularly impressed with some new ways of looking at the outstanding character of Mary and Joseph. The program will air at  8AM on Monday morning. It will be archived on Dr. Tom Curran's website which is here . Have a great weekend! I am doing most of my Christmas shopping tomorrow.

A Day In The Life Video

I was cleaning out my desk the other day and stumbled across this video which we made after my 2nd year at St. Brendan parish.
