Fr. Jim's Blog

Just a note to all St Brendan parishioners: There was a power outage earlier today. When the power came back on it fried one of the switches so we have no phones or Internet access in the parish offices. I will let you know when Jurassic Park is back online.

Just rode the Transformers ride at Universal Studios. It was great! Even my sister-in-law who is afraid of elevators rode it and thought it was worth the cost of the whole admission. Keeping tabs on the news today to see when the white smoke will start rising from the Sistine Chapel.

Essie Halls passed away on Monday. She and her husband Art coordinated the St. Joseph Prayer Ministry retreat for many years which was held in Fort Warden. I was the retreat master in the a couple of years and always enjoyed the event and their great company. She will be terribly missed. There will be a funeral in Spokane and one in Sequim at a later date which I will post. Please keep the family in your prayers. Thank you!

The Father’s Son: Andrew Cuomo

I preached two different homilies this weekend because of the First Scrutiny for the Elect. We use Cycle A readings for the Scrutiny Masses and we use Cycle C readings for all the other Masses. I have resource available for the first homily, and you can view that by clicking here.  The homilies are posted here.  Have a great week!
