Blessing of Classrooms Tomorrow

Tomorrow morning, I will be making my first official visit to the school for this new year to bless all of the classrooms for the upcoming year. I pray for all of the students, faculty, staff, and all families  to put God first in their lives and that our Catholic School will be a place to form mature disciples who know Jesus Christ personally as their Lord and Savior and who experience Baptism of the Holy Spirit to empower them to rise up to meet all of the challenges that lie ahead.

Book Corner

Someone gave me a copy of a great new book by Sherry A. Weddell. It's called "Forming Intentional Disciples — The Path to Knowing And Following Jesus". I highly recommend this book. It gives you a lot to think about and how we need to get back on track with the mission of the Church. Here's a quote from Pope Benedict XVI which is in the book: Faith is above all a personal, intimate encounter with Jesus, and to experience his closeness, his friendship, his love; only in this ways does one learn to know him ever more, and to love and follow him ever more. May this happen to each one of us.

Retreat

I enjoyed the retreat I conducted this past weekend. It was also great to see a few faces from my old parish. I came home and found out that one of the pipes in the church broke during the Spanish Mass. It made a huge mess so we had Mass last night in the gymnasium as well as this morning. I sure hope things will be back up and running for Our Lady of Guadalupe celebration on Thursday. I have recorded the homily and it is available here. Have a great day!
